Description

Bildimoo Buku Abel #6: An Exquisite Ethiopian Coffee Experience

This lot, Bildimoo Buku Abel #6, originates from Hambella Wamena in the Guji Zone, specifically the town of Dimtu, Buku Abel Kebele. Produced by around 500 local farmers, this naturally processed coffee is sundried for 18-21 days, ensuring optimal moisture content. The coffee is classified under the “Bildimoo” flavour profile, which in the Oromiffa language translates to clay soil and a shade of red. This unique profile represents coffees that are lactic, with delightful notes of lychee, cinnamon, pineapple, cola, and ginger.

The Buku Abel Washing Station, founded in 2019, is located on a small hill with an altitude of 1900 – 2100 masl. The station benefits from optimal sunlight exposure, cold winds, and rich, fertile red soil. Farmers, cultivating semi-forest and garden-type vegetation, deliver their cherries around midday, sorting them until the late afternoon. The average plot size is between 0.5 – 2 hectares, with about 1800 – 2400 trees per hectare. The varieties grown are Heirloom, contributing to the coffee’s complex and floral characteristics.

Highland Coffee Development (HCD), founded by brothers Ermias and Ephrem Eshetu in 2018, exported this coffee. Proudly from the Southern and Southwestern Oromia region of Ethiopia, HCD honors their roots through the exceptional coffee they export. The meticulous processing and dedication to quality are evident in every sip of Bildimoo Buku Abel #6, offering an elegant cup with notes of peach sorbet, passion fruit, and juicy mandarin.
