Description

Ayele Begshaw Yemiru

A seasoned coffee farmer, Ayele Begshaw Yemiru cultivates his exceptional natural coffee in the Aricha kebele area of the renowned Yirgacheffe region of the Gedeo zone, Ethiopia. His farm covers 4.25 hectares at an altitude of 1930 meters above sea level, producing heirloom coffees known for their bright and clean profile. This coffee, part of a project that began during the 2023-2024 harvest, supports production by individual farmers, highlighting Ayele’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

The coffee undergoes a meticulous natural processing process, where selectively harvested, uniformly ripe red beans are dried to enhance their natural sweetness and complexity. This method brings out intense notes of red fruit, sweet berry caramel, orange and rooibos tea, complemented by floral and herbal notes. The result is an easy-drinking coffee with a cupping score of 86, which embodies the unique terroir of Yirgacheffe.

Handpickers selected Ayele Begshaw Yemiru coffee for its exceptional quality and the important story behind its production. By purchasing directly from Ayele, we support his efforts and the broader initiative to empower individual farmers in Ethiopia. This coffee not only offers a delightful tasting experience, but also contributes to a sustainable and rewarding future for dedicated coffee farmers like Ayele.
