Description
Siko Kelloo Washed: A Jewel from Guji, Ethiopia
The Siko Washing Station, located in the serene village of Uraga, Guji, operates at elevations between 2100 and 2250 masl. Established in 2017, this station sources cherries from 500 neighboring farmers who cultivate coffee on small plots of 0.5 to 2 hectares. Enriched by the region’s fertile red soils and ample sunlight, the farmers deliver exceptional quality coffee that embodies the vibrant character of Ethiopian coffee.
Meticulously processed using the washed method, this coffee undergoes 24 to 72 hours of wet fermentation, depending on the weather. The beans are then washed, graded for density, and soaked for six hours to ensure clarity and quality. Post-fermentation, the coffee is dried in thin layers for 13 days, followed by hand-sorting for precision. The result is a meticulously crafted cup that reflects the dedication of the Siko farmers and the expertise of Origin Land Coffee.
Selected for its extraordinary “Kelloo” flavor profile, this lot showcases notes of yellow tropical fruits, florals, peach, and stone fruit. With a cupping score of 86.75, the Siko Kelloo Washed delights with its vibrant flavors of wild honey, nectarine marmalade, and black tea, delivering a long-lasting, juicy finish. Handpickers chose this coffee to offer an unparalleled Ethiopian experience, full of depth and vibrancy.
